How do you pronounce GIF?  Hard G (like gift) or soft G (like jif)?

It is a question that may create tension in friendships and divides families...

Recently, Stack Overflow forum posed the question to 50,000 people in 200 countries, and found that hard g wins out. While 65 % went for the hard g, only 26 % go for the soft g.

 Now, what should be the correct pronunciation then?

通常你在網路上看到動態圖，叫做Graphics Interchange Format，簡稱"GIF"。

GIF 的誕生，可謂IT界一大福音！因為GIF檔案細小, 放在網頁也不會拖慢速度。"GIF" 更加獲牛津字典評選為「2012年度最佳詞語」 (“Word of the Year”)

但是...你會怎麼讀 "GIF" 這個字呢? 讀"JIF" 還是讀 "GIF" ?

想不到 GIF 的讀音竟然激起網民熱烈爭論，而衍生了 "GIF" 派 和 "JIF"派。

根據Stack Overflow調查, 在200國家隨機抽樣訪問了50,000 人，發現近65%認為"GIF" 的G是重音，讀 "GIF"（粵音: 「劫乎」），只有26%認為G是輕聲, 讀 "JIF"（粵音: 「接乎」）

在亞洲地區, 例如中國和韓國則讀 "G-I-F" （粵音: 「知挨誒乎」）

到底為什麼有人讀 GIF, 有人讀 JIF 呢?

在某些語系, 例如 西班牙語和芬蘭語 沒有輕聲 G 的發音，所以他們會讀GIF；相反在阿拉伯語，則沒有重音 G 的發音而讀JIF。

但亦有網民認為，由於GIF 是 "Graphics Interchange Format" 的簡稱, 所以應該以Graphics 的前半讀音作準。

那麼正確讀音應該是什麼呢？

如果你問「獎門人」，他會說讀 "GIF” 或 "JIF" 也可以...所以...
